Institutional and private sectors analyze the public health that children and adolescents receive


The main authorities responsible for providing public health to children and adolescents participated today in the forum "The Health Sector Responds to Children and Adolescents", which allowed an analysis of the services that the State provides to this population and the scope that these have had. services throughout the national territory.

 

The conference was attended by the First Lady of the Republic, Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, who asked the participants of this meeting to join forces and continue working for the benefit of the most vulnerable populations.

 

The session was attended by the Minister of Social Development, María Inés Castillo, who took the opportunity to call on State institutions and international organizations to make alliances in order to promote the services and public offer that the National Government has to disposition of Panamanian children and youth.

 

The head of the social portfolio appreciated the efforts of the institutions responsible for providing public health and those that are dedicated to promoting mental health in children and adolescents.

 

The presentations visualized the specializations and services provided in the areas of sexual education, disease prevention and crisis care. They also talked about the services offered to early childhood in areas such as early stimulation, screenings, therapies, among others.

 

Enrique Lau Cortés, general director of the Social Security Fund (CSS), explained all the offer that this institution offers to young people in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and other sensitive areas.

 

While the Deputy Minister of Health, Ivette Berrío, offered a detailed report of the more than 100 health centers that offer specialized services that help young people to have the care they require in their different stages of growth.

 

Edilma Berrío, the analyst of programs on Adolescence, Youth and Sexuality Education of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), also participated in the activity, who presented the progress they have made in primary care.

 

Representatives of private companies and leaders of different youth organizations participated in the forum.
