SINAPROC automates its platform to attend emergencies

Personnel from the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc), volunteers, officials and first response units participate in the workshop for Operations Centers and management of the technological platform in cases of emergencies.

It is about updating the participants on how it works and what is done in an emergency operations center, in coordination with other institutions for the proper handling of information.

The ArcGIS platform is also the central theme of the workshop, since it is a system to speed up the response and know what would be missing and what is the result of the effects that have been generated during an emergency to make a timely decision and thus speed up responses in the province of Coclé and other bases in the country.

Damage assessment and needs analysis on the issue of floods are some of the topics covered, which will allow adequate decision-making in the crisis room at the COE. This system makes it easy to have in real time and with that basis make decisions to dispatch humanitarian assistance to the most affected places.

The platform also provides the ease of GPS location of the affected home and the number of people who live there, including people with disabilities and pregnant women. Previously, this process was manual and time was lost for the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The system helps to create a risk map of the areas that are most affected by floods or landslides in the national territory, since it is intended to be used at the national level for damage assessment and needs analysis with a risk map that It accelerates the delivery of humanitarian aid and is a system of great impact and importance for the Sinaproc, Senadis, SENAN, POLICE, Firefighters, Miviot and different institutions that provide support in these cases.
In addition, the information is important for international standards, as it allows speed in decision-making, in the delivery of humanitarian assistance and creates a risk map of affected areas and a real-time count of the affected places, with people, homes and types of losses.

This workshop has already been held at the National Emergency Operations Center, Coclé and will later be held in the province of Chiriquí.
