Carriers and shipping companies reach an agreement and lift unemployment, after mediation by the National Government.


As a result of the dialogue held with the shipping companies, and under the mediation of the National Government authorities, the National Coordinator of Containerized Cargo Land Transport lifted the strike established since last Thursday, September 23.

 

The announcement was made this Friday afternoon, in a ceremony in which the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, expressed his satisfaction after the teamwork in which the parties to the conflicts and the national government participated.

 

Cortizo Cohen stressed that from New York, he followed up on this issue and maintained contact with the representatives of both sectors, the Minister of Commerce, Ramón Martínez; and the president of the Chamber of Commerce, José Ramón Icaza.

 

The president reiterated that in the end all the effort made by the various sectors of the country must be aimed at recovering the economy, as highlighted in the tour he made in New York, where he pointed out to investors the great opportunities that the country offers. .

 

"I am proud to be sitting with you, because just as you are sitting here, you have reached an agreement that benefits the parties and the country," said Cortizo Cohen.

 

For his part, the Minister of Commerce and Industries (Mici), Ramón Martínez, reported that after a negotiation involving land cargo carriers and shipping companies, with the government as guarantors, "the shipping companies have agreed not to carry out national cargo transportation ”.
