A total of 50 new beneficiaries join cash transfer programs in West Panama

Some 50 new beneficiaries of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programs (PTMC), which correspond to the Guardian Angel programs, the Opportunities Network and 120 to 65 in Panama Oeste, received the social key card with which they can make the payment, from Monday 6 to 17 September.

Cecilia Rodríguez, a social worker from the Ministry of Development (Mides) La Chorrera, explained to the new beneficiaries the proper use of their social key card and the care they should take when approaching the ATM. In the same way, they were strictly asked not to share the pin code with anyone, unless it is someone they completely trust.

In addition, they were told that they must comply with the co-responsibilities that each program requires, such as health and education. "It is very important that they attend their health check-ups, because we are interested in our beneficiaries having good physical and mental health so that they can enjoy the benefit and improve their quality of life," said Rodríguez.

While Encarnación Carrillo, one of the beneficiaries, expressed feeling very happy to have entered the program from 120 to 65, since she takes medications for hypertension and diabetes, this benefit will be of great help to purchase them.

On the other hand, Mrs. Isabel Arcia, a new beneficiary of the Opportunities Network, said that thanks to this financial support she will be able to buy food for her home, as well as school supplies for her children.

Mides encourages new and old beneficiaries to make good use of this benefit and to be good stewards of it in order to provide their homes with basic necessities such as food, medicine and cleaning supplies.
