REQUIREMENTS FOR IMMIGRATION PERMITS ARE MODIFIED


With the promulgation of Executive Decree 197, of May 7, 2021, changes are established in the subcategory of "permanent resident" for foreigners native to countries that maintain friendly, professional, economic and investment relations with the Republic of Panama.
 
Executive Decree 197 details the nationalities of foreigners who can opt for an immigration permit as "permanent resident", establishing that these permits may only be granted for employment reasons, for investment in real estate.
 
The rule also establishes the additional requirements that foreigners interested in receiving this immigration treatment must provide. Those interested can find information on the nationalities that apply for this procedure and the requirements, on the website of the National Migration Service.
 
Executive Decree 197 will take effect after 90 days of its promulgation.
